SIM Photography Club - The Begining

The SIM Photography Club is one of the 34 Co-curriculum Club of the Singapore Institute of Management. Operating with a mission and vision to create a conducive environment for all enthusiasts in the art of photography, the club assist its members seek a higher level of photography skills, techniques, understanding and the appreciation of the art itself.

Officially set up in Aug 2006, the interim committee and the first executive committee board worked together to establish the club. After much re-organization they have managed to steer the club into its intended direction and help mould the club into what it is today.

Here are the details of the first executive committee board:

President- Bernard Tan (RMIT)
Appointment holding term: Aug 2006- current
A free-lance photographer himself, Bernard sets the direction of the club and is the main contact point between the club and SIM student care and services. He is also involved in planning and raising proposals to SIM and to delegate tasks and duties to the various ex-co members.


Vice-President- Marcus Tiang (RMIT)
Appointment holding term: Aug 2006-current
Deputy to the president, Marcus’s role is to assist the president and to ensure the club’s proceedings and operations are in coherent order. In the absence of a director due to other commitments, the President and Vice-President also will assume the role and duties of the director to ensure activities are in kept to standing procedures.


Club Secretary- Ien Sari (UOL)
Appointment holding term: Aug 2006-current
Ien, being the club’s secretary basically has her hands at most of the club’s administrative activities. She works hand in hand with the President and his deputy as well as the Treasurer to ensure the proper documentation of the club and its activities.


Treasurer- Cindy Purnama (RMIT)
Appointment holding period: Aug 2006-current
Cindy’s role in the club is important and crucial as she is the one person maintaining the club account and holding the cash collected from members and funds from SIM. She also advices the club on the issue of funding for programs and events.

Programs Events Head- Jerimiah (RMIT)
Appointment holding term: Aug 2006-current
The Project director on a fundamental basis plans, propose and executes the activities and outings of the club. Assisted by his team, Jerimiah is mostly tasked with managing activities of the club such as student week, photo shoot outings and exhibitions.


Communications Relations Head- Png Kok Kiong (RMIT) Aug-Dec 2006
Noah Arifin (UOL) Jan 2007-current

The post of Communications Relations head was first held by Png Kok Kiong as the club’s “relationship manager”, however due to the presence of alternative commitments, Kok Kiong has since stepped down from the post and Noah Arifin has assumed the role of managing internal and external relationships of the club. The Communications Relations Head is responsible for the channels of interaction the club has with it’s members as well as groups outside the club such as the other CCA clubs of SIM as well as other entities who share the same interest.


Website & IT Head- Rangga R (UOL)
Appointment holding period: Aug 2006-current
Rangga is the mastermind behind the design of the SIM Photography club logo. The Website & IT head is responsible for technology sector of the club. Rangga manages the club’s website and handles the updates as well as the design of the site.
